Jello Shots Skewers

Ingredients
  • 4 ounces flavored gelatin (each flavor for a different color) (Choose flavors that complement tequila, such as strawberry, lime, mango, or pineapple.)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup Hacienda de Tepa Tequila
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 unflavored gelatin (optional)
  • Small skewer sticks
Instructions
    Prepare each gelatin flavor separately
  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the flavored gelatin over 1/4 cup of the cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to soften (called "blooming").
  2. Pour the boiling water over the softened gelatin and whisk until completely dissolved.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup of Hacienda de Tepa tequila.
  4. Pour the flavored gelatin mixture into a shallow dish or small container. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  5. Repeat this process for each flavored gelatin you're using.
  6. Assemble the skewers (once all gelatin layers are set):
  7. Cut each flavored gelatin layer into small cubes.
  8. Arrange the cubes in a pattern on a plate or cutting board. You can create stripes, a rainbow pattern, or any design you like.
  9. If using fruit, intersperse the fruit pieces with the jello cubes as you build your skewer.
  10. Using a skewer, carefully pierce through the bottom of each cube, sliding them together in your chosen pattern.
Note

TIPS:

  • To make the jello set firmer, you can add an optional packet of unflavored gelatin to each flavored gelatin mixture before adding the boiling water.
  • For an extra pop of color, you can tint the unflavored gelatin with a few drops of food coloring before adding it to the flavored gelatin mixture.
  • To prevent the jello from drying out, assemble the skewers just before serving and keep them chilled until ready to enjoy.
